Game of Thrones star, Kit Harrington, Opens Up About Mental Health
Kit Harrington, also known as Jon Snow on Game of Thrones, has recently checked himself into a mental health retreat to deal with exhaustion, stress and alcohol use. Friends of the actor shared that when he realized it was the end, he began struggling with depression and thoughts of “what’s next.”
In Esquire, Harrington shared about the show ending and the emotional toll it began to take. “My final day of shooting, I felt fine … then I went to do my last shots and started hyperventilating a bit,” he said. “They called ‘wrap’ and I just broke down. It was this onslaught of relief and grief about not being able to do this again.”
Harrington shared that he began feeling overwhelmed, isolating and second guessing his acting career after his character died and was brought back to life.
Harrington began therapy, psychological coaching, meditation and CBT to deal with stress and negative emotions. Harrington isn’t the first celebrity to openly discuss his struggles with mental health. Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato are just a few other celebrities that have openly discussed there struggles with mental health.
