Every individual who enters our care will receive an individualized treatment plan based on our holistic, multidisciplinary approach towards treatment. Our treatment plan consists of effective, evidence-based mental health therapies that we administer to each individual based on their needs and strengths.
Much of the treatment involves group therapy. Throughout recovery at Atlanta Center for Mental Health, you will meet individuals who have experienced similar challenges. During recovery, we will provide you with not only the tools and skills to overcome your addiction but the knowledge of how and when to use these tools on your way to long-term recovery.
Mental Health Therapies We Offer
Recreational Therapy
During your time at our mental health treatment center, you’ll have the opportunity to explore with staff the local attractions. Additionally, you will be able to take part in outdoor activities in the Clayton County area. These trips allow you to build relationships with others as well as improve your own well-being. Our recreational mental health therapies in GA include nature therapies like hikes and walks. These activities are proven to ease stress while also boosting your recovery.
Expressive Therapy
Expressive therapy is one of our mental health therapies in GA that can help you express emotions in a nonverbal way. A therapist will guide you while you use art or music to connect with and express your feelings.
Group Therapy
While at Atlanta Center for Mental Health, you’ll participate in group therapy. This commonly used mental health therapy can help you form relationships with others who have experienced similar struggles. This kind of support can be invaluable in helping you recover.
Trauma-Focused Therapy
One of the mental health therapies we use is trauma-focused therapy. For many, past trauma plays a role in their mental health. Through targeted therapy, you’ll begin to understand how trauma might have impacted you and how you can start to heal.
Motivational Interviewing
Through motivational interviewing, you’ll use positive affirmations to regain control of your thoughts. This therapeutic modality focuses on your strengths to figure out what will motivate you in recovery. Addiction can cause you to feel depressed or anxious. However, motivational interviewing uses a series of questions to help you make positive changes.
Family Therapy
For some, mental health crises can cause a strain on family relationships. That’s why we incorporate the family into mental health treatment as appropriate. We provide education and family therapy so your family can learn healthy strategies for healing, setting boundaries, and dealing with family issues.
Co-Occurring Diagnosis
Substance abuse problems and mental health issues can often coexist. This is a “dual diagnosis.” We provide targeted treatment for both addiction and mental health disorders through psychiatric care and medication in addition to our other mental health therapies.
CBT
Cognitive-behavioral therapy, or CBT, is commonly used in mental health treatment. Its purpose is to help you learn healthy coping skills for stressful situations. Our staff will work with you to develop your goals and create action plans for future challenges. You’ll learn to deal with stress in a positive way and safeguard your future.
Aftercare
Your recovery journey doesn’t end when you leave our program at Atlanta Center for Mental Health. Instead, we’ll help you learn tools and strategies for future success. Additionally, we will give you a list of resources for when you encounter familiar or new stresses out in the world. Your long-term success is our goal, and the mental health therapies we utilize will help you build a foundation so you can achieve lasting recovery.
