What draws you to this field?

My experiences as a provider has allowed for me to view this field from different lenses and aspects of life. The populations I serve frequently find unique ways to assist in symptoms management, which can often times lead to addiction. My patients’ experiences have peaked and solidified my interests and management in the field

Director of Nursing

What sets ACMH apart from other treatment centers?

Atlanta Center for Mental Health provides quality care with compassion individualized to each client’s needs. The staff goes above and beyond what is expected to assist our clients in living a healthy and productive lifestyle as independently as possible. The staff work with each client to reach his/her goals that he/she hopes to obtain.

What draws you to this field?

It is my belief that mental health and substance abuse is often misunderstood and often neglected. As we look around our community, we often see individuals who are homeless and struggling as a result of mental illness. Often these individual are unable to speak for themselves and are unable to “break the cycle” because of their impaired judgement and addiction. Almost everyone knows someone who is struggling with substance use and/or mental illness. I personally was drawn to this field at a very young age after personally experiencing and witnessing the devastating effects that these disorders can have on individuals and their families. One of the greatest rewards that a nurse can receive is to have a client “overcome” and “take control” of their disorder and become functional in his/her community, and live a productive life free of substances.

Director of Business Development

What sets Atlanta Detox Center apart from other treatment centers?

Our facility offers substance abuse detox and primary mental health residential services in a brand new plush facility. We are not a hospital setting so the clients feel comfortable and not institutionalized while they are here. It really helps aide in the recovery process. We offer many different ancillary services to support our program to include: yoga/mindfulness classes, experiential therapy, acupuncture, bio-feedback, chiropractic services and music therapy. These services support our evidence based group therapy and Psycho-Education. We do our best to give our clients the best experience possible so that they have a solid foundation for their recovery!

What draws you to this field?

I battled with my own addiction for almost 20 years until I was broken enough to want to make a change. I felt compelled to work in this field so that no one else would have to experience the darkness that I went through. I love my life in recovery and I want others to live as happier, healthier versions of themselves!

What sets Atlanta Detox Center apart from other treatment centers?

Atlanta Detox Center is a state-of-the-art facility! The tempurpedic mattresses on each bed, the flat screen televisions in each room, the gaming systems, karaoke and ice cream machines are prime indicators of the time and detailed considerations which resulted in the non-traditional, welcoming ambiance of the facility. Moreover, the compassionate, caring and committed dispositions of the staff demonstrate an innovated meaning to the phrase “client centered care.”

What draws you to this field?

The memories of my humble beginnings combined with my personal experiences with addiction has solidified my passion and commitment to being a change agent, advocate, educator and supporter of those who are often marginalized and oppressed as a result of the stigma associated with addiction and mental health disorders. My professional career is not simply what I do for a living, it is in fact; a major reflection of my authentic self.

What sets Atlanta Detox Center apart from other treatment centers?

Not only does our facility provide an aesthetically pleasing, beautiful environment that is comfortable and conducive to healing, it also provides a working space for competent professionals with sound clinical acumen and ethical practice. Another aspect that separates us is our team’s ability and willingness to place every client, whether it is with our organization or not. We want clients to be well, if we can help them great, if they need to be connected to other services, awesome we want whole community healing that starts with getting clients the appropriate care. The centrality of that fundamental ideology is why I’m proud to be a part of this team.

What draws you to this field?

I believe in the power of personal responsibility and change. I believe those of us in recovery are living, breathing examples that incorrigibility in humans is false and those who are willing to take action can experience sustainable, transformative, and transcendent change in their own lives. To have the unique opportunity to be intimately involved, even in a small way, in that process in an invaluable opportunity for those of us in this profession. I have personally experienced the power of change in recovery and would not be in the position I am today without it.

Dr. Hetal Patel, LPC, CPCS, CPRP, MAC

What sets Atlanta Detox Center apart from other treatment centers?

Atlanta Detox Center is unique because it offers an array of services. When other programs may cherry pick, we open our arms and embrace individuals when they are at their worst. We believe that is when they need us the most. Furthermore, what sets Atlanta Detox Center apart is our staff. Most of our staff have lived experiences and can relate to people at a personal level and they offer a ray of hope.

What draws you to this field?

When I can help a person win the biggest fight of their life, that gives me a sense of purpose. When people are struggling with internal challenges, I think that is their biggest fight. What drew me to the field of behavioral health is my belief that we have a birth right to be balanced and joyous and I believe that it is my purpose to help people regain that. Helping a person live a life of realizing their dream is powerful. I get to change not the life of the person in front of me, but the life of the person in front of the person I have helped as well.
